A question from one of our Readers:

Teri,

I have a beef......particularly it happens on the great "Jerry Springer show" When women are caught cheating or being unfaithful to their  mates, instead of blaming the woman, the outraged husband or boy-friends beat up on the man!! When 90% is the woman's fault. Why is this?

This is of course, again cultural. If I catch my woman in bed with a man, I will say nothing to him because it's not his fault. It is my wife's fault! She is more to blame because it is a snap for a woman to seduce a man, the man falls into the trap  easily and it's mainly the woman's fault & responsibility.

When a person chooses to beat up another in any situation it is usually an outlet for the anger, hurt and betrayal they feel. It is an unfortunate way to handle our problems.  As a society we must one learn to express our feelings with words, and just as importantly learn to hear with understanding and compassion the thoughts and feelings of others.

My question is why do we blame, why do we want to hold on to people or relationships that we can't commit to? If a man or a woman is having an intimate relationship with someone outside their committed partner it's time to move on.

Why do we spend our time blaming and fighting when there are men and women out there who yearn to love and be love?

Let's end the anger and the pain and choose to let go of negative relationships and live in joy and love.
