Angels That Care On The Web

Angels That Care Dispense Tender Loving Care, and More Victims of domestic violence* gained needed support when concerned individuals formed the Internet organization, Caring Angels. Former nursing administrator Marcia Duning took over in 2001, and Angels That Care [ATC] was born. ATC offers opportunities to help ease the pain, humiliation and sense of helplessness domestic abuse causes. It encourages open and frequent communication. It encourages taking advantage of resources. It encourages education. But most of all, it encourages victims to stop being victims. To seek help and take action! (In the case of children, to refuse to let a n y o n e harm them, period.) Domestic abuse in all forms is increasing, and the price is horrendous. ATC members realize that sharing knowledge, tips and resources is vital. Tender Loving Care is the specialty of the house. Members quickly learn that domestic abuse is an equal opportunity attacker. A n y o n e can fall prey to abuse by someone they love and trust. The number of people who suffer in this way is staggering. Every hour, the number goes up. It is up to all of us to do what we can to stop it. ATC provides easy and affordable ways to make a difference. It is that simple.

As of May, 2004, there are in the neighborhood of fifty-eight ATC members. Many more people write for help or leave helpful messages. Duning emphasizes that the door is always open, and always will be. A warm welcome awaits you if you decide to join. Personal or professional, knowledge and experience are greatly treasured, and it shows. But one need not be knowledgeable o r experienced. All that is important is willingness to learn, share, try to help and accept help as needed.

Duning sees that ATC is updated on at least thirty search engines bi-monthly. Other out-reaches include messages in countless guestbooks. ATC also offers a feature called Angels That Care. Free For All Links (FFA's). It has greatly increased awareness of the issues that are involved, as well as important resources.

In conclusion, the author would like to say that to her, what sets Angels That Care apart is the personal touch that Marcia Duning {aka “The Boss”} insists upon. Never do you feel as if you are a cog in a wheel. In today’s world, that is special, indeed.
